25 Years EGCC Anniversary Go Tournament - 21 & 22 October
This year, the European Go Cultural Centre in Amstelveen celebrates its 25 year existence. The go centre was founded in 1992 by the financial aid of Iwamoto Kaoru 9p, the Nihon Ki-in and the Japanese community in the Netherlands, and is now, 25 years later, still going strong.
To celebrate this milestone, we organise a special EGCC Anniversary Go Tournament!
The tournament is part of the European Grand Prix and counts as a Level C Bonus tournament. EuroGoTV will be present to broadcast the top two boards live on KGS. Professional players Yamashiro Hiroshi 9p and Artem Kachanovskyi 1p will be available and will provide game reviews and simultaneous teaching games.
Beside the main go tournament that will take place from 21-22 October, you can take part in several special events during the weekend:
- To commemorate 25 years of cooperation between the Nihon Ki-in and the EGCC, there will be a short gathering on the evening of Saturday 21 October with special guests from the Nihon Ki-in, the European Go Federation and the Dutch Go Association.
- This will be followed by an Indonesian style dinner provided by the EGCC, which is available to every participant of the tournament, free of charge.
- On Saturday evening there will also be a choice of the following side events:
Simultaneous Games: Professional players Yamashiro Hiroshi 9p (Nihon Ki-in, Japan) and Artem Kachanovskyi 1p (EGF, Ukraine) will play simultaneous games against the participants.
Rengo Blitz: In rengo, a single game of go is played between teams of two players. The two players in each team can be of any gender. To spice things up a little for this event, we organise a blitz version of this format, with four rounds to determine the winner in this crazy and funky chaos!
